Children’s Healthcare of ATL App Privacy Policy

Overview

The Children’s Healthcare of ATL App (the “App”) incorporates the Epic Systems Corporation’s (“Epic”) MyChart mobile application (“MyChart”). MyChart allows patients to access a portion of their Electronic Medical Record. Epic’s Privacy Policy can be found here: View Epic’s Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the App accesses, collects, uses, stores, and transmits user information and data. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta may modify this Privacy Policy at any time, effective upon its posting. Your use of our App constitutes your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and any updates. Purpose

This Privacy Policy lets you know what limited information you provide to us when you use our App and how that information is used.

App Use of Data

When you use the App, you may provide us with different types of information, including personal information you knowingly choose to share with us and information that is collected on an aggregate basis as you and others use the App. We use the personal information you provide for the purposes of making products and services available to you and administering our business activities. Occasionally, we may also use your information to notify you about important changes to the App, new services, and new information we think you might find valuable.

We receive and store any information you enter into the App. It is completely optional for you to use the App and to provide us your information.

  1. Sign up for the App
  2. Send a secure message to your health care provider, billing office or MyChart or App customer support
  3. Request an appointment or health service(s)
  4. Access test results
  5. Connect and communicate with Children’s personnel or physicians or other licensed health care professionals (“Providers”) in real time, via mobile appointment check-in, video visits, telephone and/or secure email for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment
  6. Request access or grant access to your account for another MyChart account user
  7. Link your Children’s MyChart information with other healthcare organization information.

In the instances above, we may ask for your name, e-mail address, billing address, home address and credit card information, as well as other similar personal information that is needed to register, subscribe, or request several of the services we offer. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta will never ask you for your password in any communications (including letters, phone calls, SMS, text, or email messages).

The first time you try to use any of features 2-7 above , which may be needed to allow you to use MyChart effectively within the App, we will ask for your consent within the App. You do not have to provide consent if you do not want to allow MyChart within the App to interact with your data as requested, but you will not be allowed to access MyChart within the App.

We may also provide information you request using the App. It is completely optional for you to request this information. For example, at your request, we may provide you with access to a copy of your medical records and the results of certain tests you have had at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta through MyChart in the App.

Lastly, MyChart within the App may offer location-based check-in for in-person appointments or allow you to find healthcare providers near you. The first time you try to use any features that use your location, we will ask for your consent within the App and will only access your location if you give consent. You do not have to provide consent if you do not want to allow the App to use your location. We do not store your location data.

Cookies

We receive and store certain types of information whenever you use the App, through the use of "cookies." A "cookie" is an element of data that a Website or mobile app can send to your computer or smartphone, which may then be stored on your hard drive or smartphone and used to provide you with tailored information. We use cookie information to analyze how frequently the App is being used or viewed, for automatic user recognition, and to improve your overall App experience with us.

Third Parties

From time to time we may share aggregated information that does not personally identify you with agents, contractors, or affiliates of ours for the purpose of providing services to us. We may also share this information with our partners.

The App may link to other websites and services from other parties than Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is not responsible for the privacy or the content of these sites. Please review the privacy statement for each site you visit.

We reserve the right to release personal and account information when we believe it is appropriate to do so in accordance with the law, other agreements, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, our users, or others.

For Android users – Google Play disclosures for apps related to Covid-19

If you seek preventative or diagnostic care for Covid-19 with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, our app may display information related to Covid-19 such as test results. We are required to disclose how and why we request certain permissions as part of our integration with MyChart. Each of these permissions is voluntary if the user wishes to access MyChart features including downloading medical records or uploading images to your provider. Because these permissions are requested as part of the MyChart experience that has been integrated into our app, we have included the purpose for each permission below as specified in MyChart’s mobile privacy policy.

  1. Files: When you choose to view documents from your healthcare organization (such as letters or images) using our mobile app, to make the files viewable for you, we temporarily store copies on your device in app-private storage. The temporary copies are deleted when you close your session on our mobile apps.
  2. Camera, Images and videos: When you choose to include a photo or video in a message you send to your healthcare organization using our mobile app, you may select an existing photo or video from your device or take a new photo or video using the camera app on your device. If you use the camera app on your device to take a new photo or video, it will be saved to your camera app. Any photo or video saved to your camera app remains available in your camera app until you choose to delete it.
